Educational Farm Visits For High Schools
Visit a Rossendale hill farm & cover all aspects of the geography curriculum
This is a typical profile for a High School visit from Year 7 to Year 10. During this ½ day visit your students will follow a clearly marked trail (APPROX 1.5kms) with supporting guide and resources.
On completion of the trail they return to the big barn and discuss the outcomes of the work sheets with an experienced farmer and teacher.
The students will experience a walk from the lower slopes to the upper moorland at 330ms above sea level.
The format for the day can be altered to suit the curriculum you are following. Some schools make this a two centre day trip visiting Cronkshaw Fold Farm and award winning Helmshore Textile museum following the Fleece to Fabric theme.
Topics that can be covered as part of the visit:
- conservation issues
- grass land studies
- land use
- pasture types
- new woodlands
- breeding sheep
- weather data
- diversification projects
- alternative energy projects
